La estadounidense Sarah Muccia lanzó una petición mediante la plataforma change.org para salvar a Benson, un perro que, según indica ella misma, “estuvo involucrado en un altercado con otros 2 perros” y al parecer, ahora el dueño de esos dos “quiere ver a Benson sea sacrificado”.

Conmovida por el hecho, Muccia lanzó esta petición en la plataforma con el objetivo de conseguir 15.000 firmas para que el Ayuntamiento de Goleta comprenda que Benson cuenta con el apoyo de los ciudadanos y que la decisión de sacrificarlo debe ser revocada.

En esta línea, Sarah expresó: “Benson no es una amenaza para nadie. Benson no merece este destino por estar en el lugar equivocado en el momento equivocado”.

Hasta el momento se han conseguido 12.343 firmas y el caso ya se hizo viral. Incluso algunos famosos se hicieron eco de la causa, una de ellas fue la reconocida actriz Katherine Heigl que en su cuenta de Instagram compartió un video del animal.

In late October, Benson was off leash in an open field and went up to say "hello" to two dogs on leash and an altercation broke out. Unfortunately, the woman walking her two dogs tried to break it up and received a bite wound on her hand. The woman reported the incident and fought to get Benson put down. Six weeks later, Benson was condemned to death at a hearing led by council member Adomaitis Vyto. Benson’s veterinarian, dog trainer, and others came to the hearing to attest to Benson’s sweet, social nature, but council members had made their decision. A lot of professionals who work with dogs feel it is impossible to know which dog bit the woman, because dogs redirect their aggression and the woman reacted in a panic. She could have been bitten by one of her own dogs! Fear and tension on the leash equals aggression in dogs! Benson does not have any prior reported incidents, he sleeps we cats and plays off leash with dozens of other dogs at Hendry’s dog beach. But he was confiscated by CSB and has been held in quarantine at a shelter in Santa Maria for over 2 months. #santabarbara #socal #california @cesarsway @asmmoniquelimon @repcarbajal @cityofgoleta
